hey! quick week-3 update from me + ibrahim
scoreboard
AutoDial: $0/mo
QuoteThunder: $0/mo
Podzilla: $516 (one-off sale)
what happened?
💸 First dollar
Last week we said we’d try auctioning off old projects collecting dust. We ran a reverse Dutch auction for Podzilla (price starts high, drops $1 every 10s until someone buys). Honestly didn’t know if anyone would bite — but someone snagged it for $516. 🎉
Feels good to not see a big fat zero in the subject line anymore.
📣 How we sold it
We tried blasting it everywhere: LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit, even Slickdeals. Reddit banned us instantly (lol) — but LinkedIn/Twitter worked.
Lesson: personal networks > cold communities.
📱 AutoDial update
Apple is still… Apple. We killed Apple/Google login just to move faster, only to get rejected again for in-app payments. Turns out Stripe isn’t the same as Apple IAP? Anyway, we hacked around it and resubmitted, now waiting (again). Android build is fine, but we’re holding off until iOS is live too.
🕒 Reminder
We’re still only putting ~7 hours/week into this. A chunk of that time goes into “philosophizing” brainstorming. The rest, we try to ship stuff.
This week: another auction. Let’s see if we can beat $516.
a couple notes
Auctions are surprisingly fun - feels like a little game to run.
Apple’s review cycle makes you wonder how anyone ships apps
If you’re trying to push stuff out quickly, ignore Reddit. It’s a minefield
p.s. AI makes it easier than ever to build projects, but you still have to figure out how to sell them. That’s what this series is about. If you know someone who’d enjoy watching us stumble through that part, forward them this link → journey.yaz.in
see you next week,
— Yazin
